Well, I say crafting, but it's mostly printing, designing, and assembling stuff to be honest. Everything has a wonderlandy theme of course:<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Menus</span><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj04oKjcoHc4ue2x9-ijTXqU6Ecw7usKXAxrmKkdoemHwcglr8SvyM14q_I8eaW8cKtI0JcpBIpzkN5uDRqNmE9r7gpEaa723RFYLWXM6JCxVw2Q5KneHhJe2GPdfFUyXyULYJAaVDwdvdI/s1600/menus.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj04oKjcoHc4ue2x9-ijTXqU6Ecw7usKXAxrmKkdoemHwcglr8SvyM14q_I8eaW8cKtI0JcpBIpzkN5uDRqNmE9r7gpEaa723RFYLWXM6JCxVw2Q5KneHhJe2GPdfFUyXyULYJAaVDwdvdI/s400/menus.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612846087656190626" border="0" /></a>To keep with the vintage/victorian theme (we're doing original Alice in Wonderland as opposed to the Disney film) we scoured car boot sales for different gold frames: each table will have a different one (this is just a selection). I then printed out the menus with the mad hatter logo on the top, and voila!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Table Names</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8UKZjA7y_ois8ItChHRcZ7KTm2yWrS2q4Co_v82plANedHWuZ_z13kRnckJtw4vWpEhbvxSX-pAOd6LTEBbCnFX-vPhc-U3WZkRq31dcy2otuSFfuT8D_IfkMuQBKDrLqjmEFOSyyy7qj/s1600/table+names.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8UKZjA7y_ois8ItChHRcZ7KTm2yWrS2q4Co_v82plANedHWuZ_z13kRnckJtw4vWpEhbvxSX-pAOd6LTEBbCnFX-vPhc-U3WZkRq31dcy2otuSFfuT8D_IfkMuQBKDrLqjmEFOSyyy7qj/s400/table+names.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612846095620496802" border="0" /></a>Our tables are named: Alice, Mad Hatter, White Rabbit, Chesire Cat, Jabberwocky, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee. I tried doing the table name cards with pictures but it looked too twee and cartoony, so instead they are the names surrounded by what I hope looks like a wonderlandy forest, printed in monochrome.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">Drink Me Bottles</span><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDGSYrjsNT7knBZGLEk6fFRHdnVs_gQ4z9pUK4YgI0_gKPjojOCPjADCUfL6f3eQiHJHXWiPmrXPjME8z0sf6q2CS4jhwK2JTOIfu-x6H75zFylI4VFH7c9QDUy2gHUN_mIfAXFFLBMK2w/s1600/drinkme.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDGSYrjsNT7knBZGLEk6fFRHdnVs_gQ4z9pUK4YgI0_gKPjojOCPjADCUfL6f3eQiHJHXWiPmrXPjME8z0sf6q2CS4jhwK2JTOIfu-x6H75zFylI4VFH7c9QDUy2gHUN_mIfAXFFLBMK2w/s400/drinkme.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612846111377512914" border="0" /></a>Our favours on the tables are vintage cups and saucers with a sugared mouse sat on the rim. However I loved the 'drink me' bottles idea, and wanted to do that too! So we bought the bottles, filled them with blueberry vodka, and added the drink me tags. I then put them in this big gorgeous basket, and one will be handed to each guest as they arrive: that way they have to drink the potion to shrink and get through the door (like in the book!)<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-88729389763589147122011-05-29T15:17:00.007+01:002011-05-29T15:33:29.691+01:00You're very welcome (bags!)Hi guys,<div>See, I promised you lots of posts in quick succession! </div><div><br /></div><div>The focus of the wedding planning and all the DIY and ideas has been on little touches: making sure people have as nice a time as possible, and the easiest way to do this is to focus on the small details i'm sure other people don't remember: either that, or this is just a sign of how anal I am! What I want though is to give people little 'oh what a nice touch' surprises throughout the whole event, starting before the wedding even begins! </div><div><br /></div><div>Anyway, one of the things I wanted to do is something I read about in on an American blog that apparently happens a lot in weddings in the States: welcome bags for the guests that are staying in our hotel. So here they are:</div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1jR6LCBNfq3RvFUbeft0RTEbrp0t2qzjCEFQOSQ4MrpHohE9OMCdsjCbUrlcniJwjSprHI0YGR5rWgYtpxaXL1ky-pqk5WMhNpoB_whXadyWl02udkHSL1uwV3X9L_gpGel2DiRKlYa_s/s400/welcomebag1.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612142934850066674" /></div><div>I bought the cotton bags online, then using a cardboard stencil that i'd made myself and some red fabric paint I added the heart. I then 'Aliced' it up using a pack of luggage tags and my trusty Alice template. And here's what's inside:</div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjO5SGXX-CR3dLvhVCQ7_F787Gvbyt12nFBGswLS-algdUwoBHmQ-XWSBZQ7OodYWWWO1B8KjzBdCefGCf8LpbLmOL4TjWjFxXmbhH7qTC0vm-eB_4X70SpWSFSoUP7dyEKIRPn3uSNJmrB/s400/welcomebag2.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612142936159623202" /><div style="text-align: left;">A Norwich postcard (which has a welcome note from us on the back), Norwich map, Norwich events guide (So they can get about and enjoy the rest of their weekend) bottle of water and some mints (always handy) tea bag and chocolate rabbit (Alice themed) and a scented candle in a glass jar. All stuff that will (hopefully) make a couple of nights in a new town even more pleasant!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: left;">Love, Tor xx </div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-70242382033714672011-05-29T14:54:00.008+01:002011-05-29T15:15:33.517+01:00Church flowers - tick!Hi guys,<br />Sorry it's been a long time since my last post! We've been so busy working on the wedding that I just haven't had time to write about it too! But things have been happening at an amazing pace, and I can't believe how much we've done (having said that, I can't believe how much I have left to do either!) But now i've taken a breather and have the time to update about all our exciting progress: prepare for several posts full of pictures! <div><br /></div><div>First up, the incredible silk flowers for the church: </div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkIoVXGRYEikznaIyeFaZ_yBRFA9DoFKwK9Ak01nf_1HMBCeDAamPmetMVhG_pcMAu7oryfYa4obCxjJX_7LeDREFGMHhPygNWfG3FiLFUy58xpuVMX-QI2l73xP-6jfN-fGvzI8uIsHh_/s1600/2+lanterns.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkIoVXGRYEikznaIyeFaZ_yBRFA9DoFKwK9Ak01nf_1HMBCeDAamPmetMVhG_pcMAu7oryfYa4obCxjJX_7LeDREFGMHhPygNWfG3FiLFUy58xpuVMX-QI2l73xP-6jfN-fGvzI8uIsHh_/s400/2+lanterns.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612138587746903522" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1QOu5WOZTcyt3DUr3rz9I2jOxNFJ3EQgEzVA75VNXaC3IbYGcYuqtQoUjpeCGUz_9YJxw-2Y1K5yIE7Qf06pDO4GHWgTXbeJ5CZaRW2zOYL2XExdnICyCERUQ-jSEit1ohVH6ehq5dLe7/s1600/wreath.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1QOu5WOZTcyt3DUr3rz9I2jOxNFJ3EQgEzVA75VNXaC3IbYGcYuqtQoUjpeCGUz_9YJxw-2Y1K5yIE7Qf06pDO4GHWgTXbeJ5CZaRW2zOYL2XExdnICyCERUQ-jSEit1ohVH6ehq5dLe7/s400/wreath.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612141101591095826" /></a><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhttVJz33IyzfYHkZSyMQPnEWENwcZQIv-0sSkihfSzhL_AD8R-3KwYrfdazFvS9-c5seL-Ccp702ua_pIN2KfSGyzIorRQ0VvaiB7cAvoLSTGQOBF49_GeKbnu0fJNi1V5xnZ1HfQmlYpK/s1600/pew+ends2.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhttVJz33IyzfYHkZSyMQPnEWENwcZQIv-0sSkihfSzhL_AD8R-3KwYrfdazFvS9-c5seL-Ccp702ua_pIN2KfSGyzIorRQ0VvaiB7cAvoLSTGQOBF49_GeKbnu0fJNi1V5xnZ1HfQmlYpK/s400/pew+ends2.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612141097296407858" /></a><br /></div><div>My talented mum made these too, and they match the long and low she made for the top table at the reception perfectly. I love the lanterns with the cascading vines, which we're going to put on tall shepherd crooks at either side of the aisle. I also love the pew ends, which are the perfect mix of blousy and traditional and thoroughly modern. The wreath is going to go on the church door for a classy traditional feel, and we are thinking of having additional lanterns (with candles inside) leading up the church path. </div><div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuzTYp66uQpYWbIi9lVo4-Anj8lFOPmZ7H-QJGCQd_DESxGK5lPEx3LJfpIkr9CdKvY2TUw_PGynheD_iEh6Dk4ihd4YktfXCQkE2Ezpe_6Lad8KATXTJY9GWTgE7eg2pyiGXEjDlISOcL/s400/cones6.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612138590955708050" /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx9VYHjcCtjpzUYTYEw2QTXMME-zfwaHCMi0-zpUFTJuszaU6QtuyjsBuYQUU0YMiL2b4kbW80C4R7Wc-RKR4so7iefbVXZvWp_L0ZUm22clf0dOh0mb2xsAT_qT3DqwgDxoehDuqT53te/s1600/cones2.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjx9VYHjcCtjpzUYTYEw2QTXMME-zfwaHCMi0-zpUFTJuszaU6QtuyjsBuYQUU0YMiL2b4kbW80C4R7Wc-RKR4so7iefbVXZvWp_L0ZUm22clf0dOh0mb2xsAT_qT3DqwgDxoehDuqT53te/s400/cones2.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612138586586824434" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQihIyE9YU1ruEo47nymO2MRNXkw0RVOJy8D_ieqv5j9T9XI3JhFAfGrwAnph1Rn5QWJWdIRKNnlvN-mDd54vSl2zo5iO2WLSb5BxBN8M61Xb4Xk_Ri83ieemY7xIqpPhzuzKnIlm_upNk/s1600/cones.JPG" onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQihIyE9YU1ruEo47nymO2MRNXkw0RVOJy8D_ieqv5j9T9XI3JhFAfGrwAnph1Rn5QWJWdIRKNnlvN-mDd54vSl2zo5iO2WLSb5BxBN8M61Xb4Xk_Ri83ieemY7xIqpPhzuzKnIlm_upNk/s400/cones.JPG" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5612141094923466178" /></a><div style="text-align: left;">As well as making all the flowers, mum has also made the confetti cones, so that people can throw stuff at us when we leave the church. It's a curse, especially when you love fresh flowers as much as I do. But I knew from the start that no matter how much I love flowers, I wasn't going to ruin my day with streaming eyes and a puffy face: whats the point of a wedding you can't enjoy? Which meant no fresh flowers in my immediate vicinity. So the bridesmaids bouquets are real flowers. Mine is brooches. The reception tables will have real flowers. The top table will have....THIS:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhARj24xOeYMrSCBusAbLS-16ceMOD0REAego87sumLJCXKRib6yGqChMz_8MJYtdx9tPtL4JacNBOHZNnaFttgJjF4OSBqYic1G4s-7Pe7x0gPE_dgtoWgKWTdzFtT-il2xrwu8-o-4S_h/s1600/long+and+low.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhARj24xOeYMrSCBusAbLS-16ceMOD0REAego87sumLJCXKRib6yGqChMz_8MJYtdx9tPtL4JacNBOHZNnaFttgJjF4OSBqYic1G4s-7Pe7x0gPE_dgtoWgKWTdzFtT-il2xrwu8-o-4S_h/s400/long+and+low.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588056613777364754" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vGe8p3PlVcHIWDaVoeRgHZbDpK5UTu44BEhyphenhyphenwkbrxB1cPzOtU3vUlzkZPO6nyEHI_1I3eKKIqA_2Bm-aPVnvrQGvpDZW3IAd6hMJGv0QViLUHv_2sbaoM4jwzgvn7r-P2__8F-ZaedNB/s1600/long+and+low2.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_vGe8p3PlVcHIWDaVoeRgHZbDpK5UTu44BEhyphenhyphenwkbrxB1cPzOtU3vUlzkZPO6nyEHI_1I3eKKIqA_2Bm-aPVnvrQGvpDZW3IAd6hMJGv0QViLUHv_2sbaoM4jwzgvn7r-P2__8F-ZaedNB/s400/long+and+low2.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588057339232889826" border="0" /></a>Did you all "WOW" as much as I did when I saw these pics? And then double check, because you couldn't quite believe these were silk flowers, not real ones? My super crafty mum made this using a picture I had sent her on a real flower long and low that I loved. Only this one looks better. The colours are perfect, so countryside, but eyecatching and vibrant at the same time. And this one has the added bonus of containing a hidden tea set! Can you see the cups and saucers and teapots peaking out? I'm going to call that a massive Alice in Wonderland win!<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP0yqQD7DQHZ0sdo06yOVU8V3CH0njj_fBlhnzaAdMBsEEjGxH8yQhOb0yPoFvAzXHzCwKJE2f0n9048P-bFeHhG9_tYExaCiATsNow5mDB_BaJw3UsBfJ7uII8XFH1laZ2PF8jPno2Vut/s1600/teacup+flowers.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP0yqQD7DQHZ0sdo06yOVU8V3CH0njj_fBlhnzaAdMBsEEjGxH8yQhOb0yPoFvAzXHzCwKJE2f0n9048P-bFeHhG9_tYExaCiATsNow5mDB_BaJw3UsBfJ7uII8XFH1laZ2PF8jPno2Vut/s400/teacup+flowers.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5588056234934494210" border="0" /></a>Mum also made these teacups full of flowers, which are going to sit on the patio tables on the lawn of the garden. Oh the irony and topsy turviness of having real flowers inside and silk ones outside. I know its hard to believe sometimes, but life outside the wedding carries on, and sometimes the real world gets in the way. Having said that, there are now just 3 months and 27 days until the wedding! I cannot believe how quickly time has flown by!<br /><br />I haven't been resting on my laurels.<br />-Operation bunting is nearly complete: i'm hoping that by this time next week I will be able to show you completed pictures.<br />-Mum has finished my long and low, my flower girl wand, outdoor table centre pieces, and some awesome topiary trees complete with teapot accessories. She's now working on the confetti cones. Thank god for creative mums!<br />-65 mini bottles with corks and drink me tags are now sitting in wedding HQ, waiting to be filled with blueberry vodka.<br />-We've chosen the style and colours for the guys suits. They are all coming to town in a fortnight to get measured up and place the final order.<br />-We went home to my parents for the weekend and achieved loads. My mum saw me all dressed up in my almost completed outfit (and cried!), I had my hair trial, I procurred more teapots (we only need 4 more) and I got my wedding jewellery from the local antiques village. It matches my brooch bouquet perfectly. Behold the bling:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSSW3dNQSxCBorEjPutOmhFHER7ONJiwoi4nu_hyrHUrquy6CnPLk-to9TRXZ078pZK098QgHZvN0LkriF1EclospahofaaJiXVNXO2kFRzybebdKs9_J96Gt0I17ZWzTE3tfha4NL6owp/s1600/IMG_1170%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSSW3dNQSxCBorEjPutOmhFHER7ONJiwoi4nu_hyrHUrquy6CnPLk-to9TRXZ078pZK098QgHZvN0LkriF1EclospahofaaJiXVNXO2kFRzybebdKs9_J96Gt0I17ZWzTE3tfha4NL6owp/s400/IMG_1170%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585419871071658850" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2rUd7IOkcdWR0uN1XnjIllsmWT6eqbX7XP4whapckhPYQ9BjAWsOmCcRXYaVCjQYot_7c-WUxISVtXN9psnXPUkWffdSZQRo3XSG3JmL5jQsFXgkfHwyfFGTWLaGtrz2Gre3PXaCTM5oE/s1600/IMG_1169%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2rUd7IOkcdWR0uN1XnjIllsmWT6eqbX7XP4whapckhPYQ9BjAWsOmCcRXYaVCjQYot_7c-WUxISVtXN9psnXPUkWffdSZQRo3XSG3JmL5jQsFXgkfHwyfFGTWLaGtrz2Gre3PXaCTM5oE/s400/IMG_1169%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5585419779276446978" border="0" /></a>The pendant is on my mum's gold rope chain (my something borrowed) As you can see, it's blue on one side and peach on the other: both of my accent colours! The earrings are currently clip on, but my very talented sister is going to convert them. And the bracelet? Well i'm a magpie, how could I resist all those shiny colours!?<br /><br />This weekend I will be attempting to make an oversized 3D papier mache tea cup prop. I have no idea if this will work or not, but I will post pictures either way. Wish me luck!!<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-32242929159320808792011-02-25T17:20:00.004+00:002011-02-25T17:38:49.612+00:00DIY: This way, That way, Which way?<div>Decorating the venue is the main focus of our efforts at the minute: we want the whole venue to have a massive visual impact on our guests, and for the wonderland theme to really shine through straight away. Because prop hire is so expensive, we've been looking at DIY ways we can achieve this, and my mum came up with the genius idea of making the classic Alice in Wonderland this way/that way signs. Using a little paint and a sheet of my beloved MDF, this is what i've come up with so far:<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZrvu5IlBoE7PIWGns2mcL3HYtsV2KbYL3CpKnaSG8YYlmKuiC0BQlI6xXe3gpbVmd9u2dLAR5OD1URbAZxxynSv4WKxkVJoaVQnLzaiBw4peLXQsRXUPUbMVArMqIYuYj9n7dsmB7QkFJ/s400/IMG_1111%255B1%255D.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577680894163763250" /><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0DZVext-r3CVlk2fQR33gOh_Gedtmn16LXufA9Kz0mkSrW8mbnpV6L5drapoACSFvFR9379Dc0RHcFYTlEBkfQcZWSRS2dFyUc6R3WlWqb7aPRzvhYSQhip5eNuZNJbYRTxKn6_TNsHac/s400/IMG_1113%255B1%255D.jpg" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577680873252689218" /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLn_k2_XMeac0J8chk-NtivZQnwxwqn38kjDLheSy7CmRgtELGplsHIg2xLh3-ygBij5jllQ1MJSPUmGEYcgoSks2TJI166UEVZ1Rq19OCNcjX_mh-SXbEcq-kQdrSmWXbzEaLD6BujolV/s1600/IMG_1112%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLn_k2_XMeac0J8chk-NtivZQnwxwqn38kjDLheSy7CmRgtELGplsHIg2xLh3-ygBij5jllQ1MJSPUmGEYcgoSks2TJI166UEVZ1Rq19OCNcjX_mh-SXbEcq-kQdrSmWXbzEaLD6BujolV/s400/IMG_1112%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5577680905856362690" /></a><div style="text-align: left;">This sheet full of signs will make its way to <i>chez mama and papa</i>, where each will be cut out and secured to a large wooden post. It was considerably more time consuming, and more expensive than I originally expected. They're all finished, but I just have half of the envelope lining left to do. I cannot wait to send them out and get people's reactions to them! If they didn't know the theme before they definitely will when these come through the letter box:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwDZM7I03Os_Leu_EaWwm7qg479RlZ9MykoNYpLvByOsommjaOV70GJLHfrpxF4AytEmvlK6MYXjgrY9c_1zUnKEhVte-vaPijsxMQm-tdfBAMJw17cqZqjJjfJIt8a4D3S8G1avBng9c/s1600/IMG_1080%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhXwDZM7I03Os_Leu_EaWwm7qg479RlZ9MykoNYpLvByOsommjaOV70GJLHfrpxF4AytEmvlK6MYXjgrY9c_1zUnKEhVte-vaPijsxMQm-tdfBAMJw17cqZqjJjfJIt8a4D3S8G1avBng9c/s400/IMG_1080%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574627245948170290" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBUiTx4YBtYD4mC1pr-s1Zl4bmeMIsFd5EVoefUzfzjOs3VFHZz2u4MbmuiLyE14xF_j1dRVLbUJVuPqsv5wfG02sZXv8-7miF8gsqB6YIhsiMQyv7-x3LOozDVG0vLhelOdC6UWPGkzv7/s1600/IMG_1079%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBUiTx4YBtYD4mC1pr-s1Zl4bmeMIsFd5EVoefUzfzjOs3VFHZz2u4MbmuiLyE14xF_j1dRVLbUJVuPqsv5wfG02sZXv8-7miF8gsqB6YIhsiMQyv7-x3LOozDVG0vLhelOdC6UWPGkzv7/s400/IMG_1079%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574627246135649410" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHb1YRHqs1_maSy7hflSDZ72aKv-pfbYXiMegBL_lW6syYrfs4F6zbvsW3JN6qeNeljuF78ITODNSo4eVB9mpez6z9tsjCpcaqlVfgYbNl-4fi99Oxsy4pf6Sz4MUcHjpX5xK0gBv7l8_/s1600/IMG_1078%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDHb1YRHqs1_maSy7hflSDZ72aKv-pfbYXiMegBL_lW6syYrfs4F6zbvsW3JN6qeNeljuF78ITODNSo4eVB9mpez6z9tsjCpcaqlVfgYbNl-4fi99Oxsy4pf6Sz4MUcHjpX5xK0gBv7l8_/s400/IMG_1078%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5574627238674468018" border="0" /></a>I also need to address all the envelopes (including the rsvp ones) buy a multitude of stamps, and fill in the guests names on the response card. This sounds like a small task, but I am guesstimating that means there is still a couple of hours work to do.<br /><br />Still, fashion week starts tomorrow, and to give myself peace of mind to concerntrate on that properly, i'm calling this job finished! We're planning on sending them out in a fortnight.<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-84339555393009917152011-02-14T12:18:00.006+00:002011-02-14T12:35:58.257+00:00Invitations done: Well, almost!!Hi guys,<br />Saturday saw the day I had been waiting for for a long time: my big invitation making production line/workshop/slave drive (Delete as you see appropriate!) Myself, both of my sisters (Amie and Lucy) and Lucy's new baby Lily all gathered and got down to work. It was a day filled with cutting sticking, and more tea staining than i've ever seen before in my life! But I also wanted them to have a vintage Victorian feel: like our guests had been invited to the original tea party over 100 years ago, but the invite got lost in the post, and this is how it looks now. All that's left to do is print and insert the main invite detail sheet and line the envelopes (I'm going to line them with vintage style maps to wonderland). Then these beauties are ready to post, way ahead of schedule. This weekend I made approx 20 flags. I toyed with just cutting them and hanging them single-sidedly but decided for quality and longevity to double them up and stitch all around. I then turned them inside out and ironed them flat.<br /><br />It's time consuming, but it will definitely be worth it in the end. I chose 4 different fabrics: 2 in pink to match the flowers, and 2 in blue to match the bridesmaids dresses and chair ribbons. I'm hoping to produce about 40 meters (gulp) which will be enough to line the room we are getting married in, and the bar.<br /><br />And here's how it look stitched on to white satin ribbon (Which is leftover ribbon from the stuff I used to wrap my brooch bouquet):<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3XP-g70FnB5IkStQCHp5KIZzR6Ru1a_VbKlpRNeuJlWT-1Mf9JQLBj4c-PbnUa55-tCTLe5JXZHWvUdEK420epAmGnPYNvd5xvqZqRmrbtXruA3mdcuMTbKpp9DyH3WmEyZ0pBEDr5wr1/s1600/IMG_1014%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3XP-g70FnB5IkStQCHp5KIZzR6Ru1a_VbKlpRNeuJlWT-1Mf9JQLBj4c-PbnUa55-tCTLe5JXZHWvUdEK420epAmGnPYNvd5xvqZqRmrbtXruA3mdcuMTbKpp9DyH3WmEyZ0pBEDr5wr1/s400/IMG_1014%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5570986512070020578" border="0" /></a>I plan on stitching at least 2 new flags every night after work. My deadline to finish this is the end of the month. Fingers crossed!<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-48479679375931999412011-02-01T13:15:00.007+00:002011-02-01T13:35:42.191+00:00Yay! More decisions made!Hi guys,<br />This weekend Mike and I headed to Norwich to meet the rest of our potential vendors and make some crucial wedding decisions. The meetings all went so smoothly, and i'm delighted to say that aside from Mike's suit hire and my hairdresser, all our external vendors are booked. Yipppeeee!!<br /><br />Here are the <span style="font-weight: bold;">chair covers</span> and ribbon colours we're chosen. (These are exactly the same ones we will have but that isn't our venue in the background:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL8d-zk_kk1xip1SujKtqQcl4o5ay1GNhzUIPRnXyMX3VcQMjDA6RnKObIJTuWKeNMCeHiD08s0vabV14ZImIaShh9h_jXhcpH7m4MlDSHH1cHWxbmcZNvVohnJxUtJbk5N1Z7khy9Lfsm/s1600/chaircovers.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiL8d-zk_kk1xip1SujKtqQcl4o5ay1GNhzUIPRnXyMX3VcQMjDA6RnKObIJTuWKeNMCeHiD08s0vabV14ZImIaShh9h_jXhcpH7m4MlDSHH1cHWxbmcZNvVohnJxUtJbk5N1Z7khy9Lfsm/s400/chaircovers.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568709893262321186" border="0" /></a>The ribbons are the exact same colour as the bridesmaids dresses. Which absolutely made my day, because other vendors have found the colour so hard to match!<br /><br />Here is the <span style="font-weight: bold;">car</span> I will be arriving to the church in with my daddy, and leaving in as a married woman (eek!):<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgku8aFDWER-ezvGC62QQctsnlJeSv36VfVKh0jHqIh9712QXg6gz6LkjWf7q26yWF4dBSN3mW8TbK8eAUPl3h68njKHJJmgrtC8fmf23vDbuHoWCgs6SXymlSRxlKdHsxgt7er2ihzVkGt/s1600/car.jpg"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 266px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgku8aFDWER-ezvGC62QQctsnlJeSv36VfVKh0jHqIh9712QXg6gz6LkjWf7q26yWF4dBSN3mW8TbK8eAUPl3h68njKHJJmgrtC8fmf23vDbuHoWCgs6SXymlSRxlKdHsxgt7er2ihzVkGt/s400/car.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568710783004199474" border="0" /></a>It's a 1952 Triumph Renown Limousine. We will be having silver ribbons. There are only 7 of this car left in the world, and this one was originally built for the editor of the Daily Mail. Although its about a decade older than I was looking for, I fell in love with this car, and its backstory. It also has a big back seat which is important, as i'm wearing a big dress!<br /><br />After being let down by our original <span style="font-weight: bold;">florist</span>, we met another one on Saturday who has agreed to do our wedding on what is, surprisingly, pretty short notice! Here are our inspiration pictures for our floral tabel centrepieces:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkOxZB_guMqO56-uBVdpMYE34k-BugAzAkr8XEEgeiRbEOXh6L6E6eytKV0Tx-TAs_eYnSJowa7hemVrI0aLA_A4WuzT0uEoiQYtRL9dT3MOmMJY9wv_0wzJ-_EQpriEIdu-DX-L18KJJC/s1600/flowers.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 389px; height: 224px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjkOxZB_guMqO56-uBVdpMYE34k-BugAzAkr8XEEgeiRbEOXh6L6E6eytKV0Tx-TAs_eYnSJowa7hemVrI0aLA_A4WuzT0uEoiQYtRL9dT3MOmMJY9wv_0wzJ-_EQpriEIdu-DX-L18KJJC/s400/flowers.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5568712529798269986" border="0" /></a>We're going for vintage blush pink. The bridesmaids bouquets, the buttonholes and the corsages for the mums will all be in the same colours.<br /><br />We also met <span style="font-weight: bold;">a harpist</span> who played Coldplay, The Beatles, Take That and even Stevie Wonder for us on her harp; we wanted the traditional instrument to play very contempory music to add to the topsy turvy wonderland feel of the event. She's even going to learn some of the Rolling Stones hits, because they're my favourite band. Awesome!!<br /><br />And finally, before we came home on Sunday afternoon, we did our <span style="font-weight: bold;">menu tasting</span>. Oh my god it was amazing!!! So hard to choose, but choose we have. I'm waiting for pictures of the food from the venue. As soon as they arrive i'll post them and leave you all to drool....<br /><br />All in all, an amazing weekend!<br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-75835884806730492011-01-24T13:46:00.003+00:002011-01-24T13:51:42.428+00:00Thank you cards - done!Yesterday afternoon Mike and I got a production line started, and sat down to finish our thank you cards - we weren't going anywhere until they were done, and done they finally are!<br /><br />We decided to go for something simple for the Thank you cards - a lot of hard work and man hours are going to go into the invitations, and we figured the most important part of a thank you card is the heartfelt message that goes inside anyway. Nonetheless, although they're simple, I think they're turned out pretty nicely.<br /><br />Here is the evidence:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizCQFPsIKrFf5iOD2VjpZcwoJHV01e-hfeJFisQYkICvQguZkb5KH7AtK37e8zSQrDOyTKA1pqCklETe2zXwTbUK8teaVQxKx-ygFGnL1_ZlsHNu2O5SkEUdbehsU_YcRIK2i_XO_anbtU/s1600/IMG_0969%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizCQFPsIKrFf5iOD2VjpZcwoJHV01e-hfeJFisQYkICvQguZkb5KH7AtK37e8zSQrDOyTKA1pqCklETe2zXwTbUK8teaVQxKx-ygFGnL1_ZlsHNu2O5SkEUdbehsU_YcRIK2i_XO_anbtU/s400/IMG_0969%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565748924785641378" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX_3PHBKSX5lO0ILqwOGljcVJiiBn94mj-NsNOMlYJZSnx4NqwZ3c2l8C40Ibz3ie-it3N96AE8qIV_zAd1fV-W-TuBMvKdbH_rtyAeT_kYlC4V5mYlgL_nmp0S1oHmSVaVuWTd8tZrhkx/s1600/IMG_0968%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgX_3PHBKSX5lO0ILqwOGljcVJiiBn94mj-NsNOMlYJZSnx4NqwZ3c2l8C40Ibz3ie-it3N96AE8qIV_zAd1fV-W-TuBMvKdbH_rtyAeT_kYlC4V5mYlgL_nmp0S1oHmSVaVuWTd8tZrhkx/s400/IMG_0968%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565748919691262082" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikBlZBR6JA7TNKo-QrK5F4OcF0edBHPn4xyD6QwE4l5ZGHUH78B0PIaeAjlkBCSzUqlKYWpQlfOrKhkV3O2OGd1WTy7Ku60pbtMIreMhRVuyOSqonXrpHK06tWMqxkWlABuAD2sr9fjw77/s1600/IMG_0970%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikBlZBR6JA7TNKo-QrK5F4OcF0edBHPn4xyD6QwE4l5ZGHUH78B0PIaeAjlkBCSzUqlKYWpQlfOrKhkV3O2OGd1WTy7Ku60pbtMIreMhRVuyOSqonXrpHK06tWMqxkWlABuAD2sr9fjw77/s400/IMG_0970%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5565748938185509522" border="0" /></a>Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-44853269124069757632011-01-17T14:01:00.004+00:002011-01-17T14:11:26.290+00:00This is what 62 tea cups look like....<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5PaKVlMztBuznLhAd2JqHbao7fxnqo8Glfbc0ASwZZQAd6gMTTHSLfGsIfdf1ArdNVzMh1-qJhvvDveLL9bol_GA1FNraOy2D3VYD_HgyOJvIhaT_1_C1X-D5m3I2wGudS6_LhPYK5OUl/s1600/IMG_0874%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi5PaKVlMztBuznLhAd2JqHbao7fxnqo8Glfbc0ASwZZQAd6gMTTHSLfGsIfdf1ArdNVzMh1-qJhvvDveLL9bol_GA1FNraOy2D3VYD_HgyOJvIhaT_1_C1X-D5m3I2wGudS6_LhPYK5OUl/s400/IMG_0874%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563155892557902818" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGuXVVuDWZWSBHc53P6ke5lnihjPpeZme1hNVWO1REXm4llGCfjkAqodavROLW9nbxccA5pU8bg7Lvws67ONQDcnh6OOn7LBhBBBP5WZ1MauGtkqLfDCmZzDv-1aQqjaOj1TmpXcGw5xof/s1600/IMG_0873%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGuXVVuDWZWSBHc53P6ke5lnihjPpeZme1hNVWO1REXm4llGCfjkAqodavROLW9nbxccA5pU8bg7Lvws67ONQDcnh6OOn7LBhBBBP5WZ1MauGtkqLfDCmZzDv-1aQqjaOj1TmpXcGw5xof/s400/IMG_0873%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5563155573143762434" border="0" /></a>If you ever wanted to see what 62 tea cups look like all in a row then this is it!<br /><br />We're inviting exactly 62 people to the wedding, so i've ticked operation "find vintage tea cups" off my to-do list. I treated each individual brooch like a separate flower (see above). I made the flowers by taking the wire and (using the pliers) wrapping it around the clasp of the brooch so that it was pretty secure and the length of the wire hung down like a stem. This didn't give enough security and often wasn't tight enough though, so I then wrapped a pipe cleaner around each side of the clasp and then twisted these around the length of the wire, making the stem thicker and more secure. Then just to make the flowers look pretty (and more like flowers!) in case you could see any of the stem once i'd constructed the bouquet, I took the florist tape and used it to completed cover the stem, like to you see above. </div><div><br /></div><div>Doing this for each of your brooches is a pretty lengthy process and it took me up to 10 minutes to do each one, depending on how fiddly the clasp is. My tip to make this less grueling is to do each "flower" as you buy the brooches, so you don't have to sit down and do 75 all at once. </div><div><br /></div><div><br /></div><div><b>2. Assemble the bouquet</b></div><div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRUkjdzqJhLnU07zFgRE_O6W1nsbG2pNrfljX5wfAYPKL962880SCLKyBApQ0Sr47cZBoVO2metrtrOE1YamPsT9A_j51dJ98rz7mhSb8wN5v2D6-kwLqvs1ZYiFVgZ07swDvtHCeE8Fsj/s1600/IMG_0858%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiRUkjdzqJhLnU07zFgRE_O6W1nsbG2pNrfljX5wfAYPKL962880SCLKyBApQ0Sr47cZBoVO2metrtrOE1YamPsT9A_j51dJ98rz7mhSb8wN5v2D6-kwLqvs1ZYiFVgZ07swDvtHCeE8Fsj/s400/IMG_0858%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562699167062193154" /></a></div><div>Once you have your 75 flowers constructed, its time to start putting the bouquet together. This is tricky, especially if you want a traditional rounded shape like I did, so it's best to take it slow to get it right. I started by laying out all the brooches and seeing which ones would fit together nicely. Then I started putting them in little clusters of 3 to 4 brooches to see how they would look. Once I had my little cluster looking good, I twisted the wires of those 3/4 brooches around each other, so that they were secure in the position I wanted them to be, without using any glue. I started with the first cluster I wanted at the top centre of the bouquet and worked down and round. </div><div><br /></div><div>If anything needed repositioning, or the bouquet was starting to fall flat I turned it upside down and started 'fluffing' it up and pushing the brooches back into the positions I wanted to be in: it's easier that way. What I ended up with was a nice looking bouquet, but with an ugly looking twisted stem. </div><div><br /></div><div>Depending on the length of wire you use, you might have to shorten your bouquet at this stage I did!) We just used wire cutters to trim though each flower (I got Mike to help with this, as it needed a stronger arm than mine!) </div><div><br /></div><div>Now is the time for the masking tape! To cover your ugly stem, and give you an even surface for your ribbons, wrap masking tape around the stem as tightly as you can, making the stem as compact and even as possible. </div><div><br /></div><div><b>3. Trim your bouquet</b></div><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Zf25vpVn2WegXR1SWuDbTDeAyyNF-8G85xBWiYhxWVilcMtegMcwYCfJBS7g91QCTTw1RsSGodFml9ynoE2aOOHTlcbaciQMWYvzILxyuV4-AtEMhyphenhyphenSbxeC7U79OSOQjrUvpsoilMCDm/s1600/IMG_0869%255B1%255D.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3Zf25vpVn2WegXR1SWuDbTDeAyyNF-8G85xBWiYhxWVilcMtegMcwYCfJBS7g91QCTTw1RsSGodFml9ynoE2aOOHTlcbaciQMWYvzILxyuV4-AtEMhyphenhyphenSbxeC7U79OSOQjrUvpsoilMCDm/s400/IMG_0869%255B1%255D.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5562701968350170898" /></a><div>This was the bit I found hardest, and i'm not going to give a full tutorial on this, because if you google 'wrap bridal bouquet' you'll find lots of much better video tutorials to follow: that's what I did!! The lace trim around the flowers (which of course you don't have to have but I liked as it added to the vintage feel) was a case of trial and error. I pushed my lace under the flowers and into the position around the bouquet that I wanted. Then using a needle and thick white cotton I stitched it into place: I used the brooches as anchors for this (because I had no other fabric to stitch to!!) and stitched around them and their stems. It seems to have worked well and feels pretty secure.</div><div><br /></div><div>Et voila! The brooch bouquet is complete!</div><div><br /></div><div>Sorry I didn't take more photos during the construction process, but I hope that makes sense! Good luck making your own brooch masterpieces! </div><div><br /></div><div>Love, Tor xxx </div><div><br /></div><div><b>NOTE: I'm sure if you didn't mind ruining the brooches there would be a much easier way of doing this, using hot glue. This method just didn't work for me, because a lot of the brooches have sentimental value, and I didn't want to damage them. </b></div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-1894228225153697892011-01-09T08:48:00.004+00:002011-01-09T09:07:09.574+00:00My brooch bouquet is finally finished!!Hi guys,<div>After months spent gathering brooches, wiring them into individual flowers and arranging them into a bouquet shape (not easy when you're working with metal and wire) my brooch bouquet is finally finished. I can't wait to get home for Christmas to see how they look (as well as because I can't wait to get home for Christmas!)<br /><br />When I went home last month to visit my folks and take the cut outs up for their final creation, mum and I had three days of wedding planning and crafty fun. We choose the ribbon colours for the confetti cones (which mum is making herself) got some great inspiration for the reception, and went to Horncastle, a local antiques town, where we picked up lots of the remaining tea cups needed for the place settings, as well as tea pots for our floral arrangements on the tables, old fashioned vases, for the flowers in the bar area and cut glass bottles for our homemade vodka to sit in on the bar. We also got a giant goblet/vase which I loved, and which we will be using for the sweetie buffet:<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS9DYSw8NEUDPwrs4HsmYBCvh9n-l7kP_J1sVAhS0uVHwQMq4CEKhCA43jHIdvwafW-s2aXr7amM2gc7nCtH3c_ZdvGHwTD_fHOlkYco_UFWUjOWjXLjrlfYtmFu3OatWleBxTDEZCDjyK/s1600/IMG_0483%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhS9DYSw8NEUDPwrs4HsmYBCvh9n-l7kP_J1sVAhS0uVHwQMq4CEKhCA43jHIdvwafW-s2aXr7amM2gc7nCtH3c_ZdvGHwTD_fHOlkYco_UFWUjOWjXLjrlfYtmFu3OatWleBxTDEZCDjyK/s400/IMG_0483%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551244636218445426" border="0" /></a><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWXyFwF3g-b3s-OIjNleO7c4596WSU5uRzMg9CA2qXvpXOOwQ-hkeN4geuf1thgc2_1KUDS3wRHBepHqLZtCz4QoLKoKERUWVpYq16JLmKH7a6gciVMqpkArNfOqsNltFXEiKhG-XHqE06/s1600/IMG_0480%255B1%255D.JPG"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWXyFwF3g-b3s-OIjNleO7c4596WSU5uRzMg9CA2qXvpXOOwQ-hkeN4geuf1thgc2_1KUDS3wRHBepHqLZtCz4QoLKoKERUWVpYq16JLmKH7a6gciVMqpkArNfOqsNltFXEiKhG-XHqE06/s400/IMG_0480%255B1%255D.JPG" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551243802648817890" border="0" /></a>It will brilliant to have the time with mum to talk non-stop about the wedding and make plans. My mum is ridiculously crafty (much more so than me) and it was great to hear all her ideas (and of course give her a big list of extra things to do!!!) It was a massive weight off my shoulders to know that my mum could craft half the ideas I could barely explain in my head (and didn't think they were crazy!) Like the title says: every girl needs her mum!<br /><br />All in all it was a massively successful trip, and I can't believe I didn't write it up sooner!<br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-52073455688546553142010-11-10T13:00:00.003+00:002010-11-10T13:17:10.187+00:00DIY Photobooth/guest book hybrid!Wow, I can't believe it's been a month since my last post! We've had a really busy time, with loads of amazing progress made, so I must keep writing these updates. My latest DIY project is currently in progress, and it's one i'm really proud of, so I just had to share its evolution so far:<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxnoyAcG5DQl-NS-15EoZ6vPNJug6ZEH5NniX3DbwfjJ0L1lbMQkHWk_puseFnL9Hl3LueOW0R9st7m8MyNLRam296gyxh1JLNu3T9PZlVU197I79w2F9oYwRu4MhvCoUVWc2s_ygGTzg/s1600/alice1.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLxnoyAcG5DQl-NS-15EoZ6vPNJug6ZEH5NniX3DbwfjJ0L1lbMQkHWk_puseFnL9Hl3LueOW0R9st7m8MyNLRam296gyxh1JLNu3T9PZlVU197I79w2F9oYwRu4MhvCoUVWc2s_ygGTzg/s400/alice1.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5537909196513831986" border="0" /></a>You know those things that have no name, those things you put your head through and have your picture taken when you go to the fair? Well we really wanted to have those for our wedding guest book. So much more interesting that a load of signatures! We intend to have one for the boys and one for the girls: An Alice and a Mad Hatter. The painting of the alice is complete, whilst the hatter is still a work in progress. The final picture is the finished Alice:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc4kXVuGQTNVxWnrd6so2lOm0KcC06ECnkWx288IV_hEzrJSX71V1zTXvJ4xR8-FqHRzCKlyGAyChThXCIo6k3KBWI9zSVrN11X6ZuuzuM9QQaqoTCmEHqvnasiXlG5wGhZRFhkmY1qU4u/s1600/alice2.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 400px; height: 301px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc4kXVuGQTNVxWnrd6so2lOm0KcC06ECnkWx288IV_hEzrJSX71V1zTXvJ4xR8-FqHRzCKlyGAyChThXCIo6k3KBWI9zSVrN11X6ZuuzuM9QQaqoTCmEHqvnasiXlG5wGhZRFhkmY1qU4u/s400/alice2.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5537909332380236002" border="0" /></a>We took 6 ft by 2 ft thick gauge MDF boards, and painted them pale pink then left them to dry. Then it was time to get creative and draw on the Alice with pencil. Once I was happy with the drawing I painted in the block colours, one colour at a time. Again, this was left to dry. Then came the trickiest bit of this crazily simple process: creating the block cartoon effect by going around the painting in a thick black marker pen. Simples!<br /><br />The Hatter has had his background painted, and is just waiting for me to get creative with my paints and pencils! At the weekend both boards will be making a trip to Lincolnshire, where Daddy and Grandad Fabfrocks will be cutting out their faces and building them A frames so that they stand up independantly, and safely.<br /><br />Without sounding to vain, i'm really pleased with how this one has turned out. I just hope the Mad Hatter looks as good when i've finished him!<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-35512153097526982912010-10-11T21:10:00.003+01:002010-10-11T21:23:29.114+01:00Guest book/Photo album/Keepsake box: Done!I've been looking for the gift box/photo album/keepsake box set for ages, but haven't seen anything I wanted: I didn't want something with "wedding" embellished across the front. Then I toyed with something Alice themed, but didn't want something that garish to sit on my coffee table for all eternity.<img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1MUgZdq8nVOJCdDVaBCNIABdCj7HoDft5JAJQ5FI1S6ZWu-tAsdoxBf9ox4X_lfK_2qbbmi2jJxoUK28bP7j4Xrt551iHP1wyQrssASjaL-pVhYK47SFjp-pg3bT_l0nN5I3FA1Ner-ul/s400/giftbook2.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526885369884611714" /><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVzOZrjJpZ5N7X3qBj_tZyzpfz52gAeApqy4LPTCVuVzzeaxVlzOzTerptuUGDVTIIMySw1CAbV-Fv4mUQ6KxJqmVftWwjy_5o941ZpSK3M-pB3AqpaINQCUjCVj9thP-XA6FTwA1cRIzO/s400/giftbook1.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526885368101749698" /><div>Tonight Mike and I popped into Paperchase to check out the Christmas stuff (which I always absolutely love!) and I saw this and fell in love. Silver leather with flocking embossing: what's not to like?! It's very simple, and very chic, which is just what you want in something you're going to keep forever. It's more surprisingly sophisticated than I expected I would like but in the flesh it's lovely: the grain of the leather is stunning! </div><img src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmo-JLrQQvcJE4dR7dYwtee6idA_bZZuQOxEz7AmmHZBv0GBaigdmM6v2x7DqGQQ1kSYXWza4E9pRJurTtBTqLv2PSaBF5WWiS2Yucygfrxs5WRKtKZKYcKUsFvy85Z5cbGX0EfqoYOCy0/s400/bottles.JPG" style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5526885371089668450" />On the subject of Paperchase, this is the display they had behind the tills: milk bottles with pages torn from books wrapped inside as scrolls. I thought it looked really effective, and if I have any nooks and crannies at the venue that need filling this would be a cheap but eyecatching way of doing it! <div><br /></div><div>Love, Tor xx<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br /></div></div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-58823524559476251862010-10-06T14:47:00.004+01:002010-10-06T14:55:14.359+01:00It's the little things...Hi guys,<br />I've been quiet, but that doesn't mean I haven't been busy! I've had lots of new ideas over the past couple of weeks, including handing out our 'drink me' bottles of booze at the entrance to the venue (instead of putting them on the table) so that guests have to "drink and shrink" to get in, just like Alice did! I've also had a great idea for a photo guest book that's quite ambitious, and involves building a head-in-hole photobooth, similar to the kind you would find at a fair!<br /><br />Unfortunately, i've also been busy, so no new big decisions have been made, no more vendors chosen. Instead i've been busying myself with little projects, so that I feel like i'm achieving something towards the wedding, without overwhelming myself!<br /><br />Today i've been working on the labels for the sweet jars, to go on the sweetie buffet:<br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb9JeCOEIVjd0Xh8C2aJD4rlis0RloJYwswuQNWz4jIdl0OcilZJ3J_EzSUrrssFvszIut_B46zrtSRzgeE9kkvsHiZIy3YIGZwtK2dNQpysLb5fLIWSmasrGCYxWg0I4K5M-QUsU5ra99/s1600/labelspic.png"><img style="display: block; margin: 0px auto 10px; text-align: center; cursor: pointer; width: 323px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb9JeCOEIVjd0Xh8C2aJD4rlis0RloJYwswuQNWz4jIdl0OcilZJ3J_EzSUrrssFvszIut_B46zrtSRzgeE9kkvsHiZIy3YIGZwtK2dNQpysLb5fLIWSmasrGCYxWg0I4K5M-QUsU5ra99/s400/labelspic.png" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5524930627408227410" border="0" /></a><br />They're exactly what I wanted: personalised with our names and date, vintage looking, and still inkeeping with the wonderland theme. I've only made four so far, but now I have the template ready they won't take long to finish off! Next job is to go to ikea and buy the jars to stick them on....<br /><br />Love, Tor xtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-44085308365379496392010-09-24T19:43:00.003+01:002010-09-24T20:04:18.280+01:00More crafting: Hen 'do presents!I know I haven't posted for ages, but that doesn't mean I haven't been getting busy with the wedding preparation! Today I finished the first batch of presents for my hens on my hen do: I decided to make them personalised Alice in Wonderland necklaces in homemade pouches. It seemed like a much nicer present to keep than a straw shaped like a willy!! <a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=hendo1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/hendo1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a> <div>I used charms from a company called My Vintage Charms: one is shaped like a stopped clock, and one is shaped like a tea cup. The bottles (similar to the Alice "drink me" bottles) were from ebay, and each one has the hens name written on it on a scroll in the middle, and inside each scroll is a personalised note. The ribbon I used is the same ribbon I am using for the bows on my Thank You cards. And here are the little pouches:</div><div><a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=hendo2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/hendo2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><br /></div><div>These were shockingly easy to make: I made little pouches out of blue felt, cut hearts out of red felt and secured them to the pouches with a cute shiny button! I then stamped the names onto labels and used the same blue ribbon as before to tie them to the tops of the bags - easy peasy! </div><div><br /></div><div>My next projects for the hen do are to make candles inside teacups (i'm assured this is easier than it sounds!) and to research some personalised cotton bags to put all the trinkets into! </div><div><br /></div><div>Love, Tor xx </div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-69449443570087744772010-09-09T20:08:00.003+01:002010-09-09T20:21:25.721+01:00Brooch bouquet progress update<a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=broochbouquet1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/broochbouquet1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><br /><a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=broochbouquet2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/broochbouquet2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><br />I'm really excited about the progress we've made on the brooch bouquet; so far we have around 40 brooches wired up like flowers, and I think we only need another 25 or so before I have enough to completely make the bouquet!<br /><br />I've started putting it together already, just to get an idea of the shape and size. I'm crazy pleased with how it's looking, and think it's definitely comparable to the professionally made ones that i'm modelling it on. The top picture shows how it's looking so far, the bottom picture are the loose brooches I have left to add in. Although actually they aren't just brooches: i've also used scarf rings (that's what the stopped clock is - very Alice in Wonderland!) rings, clip on earrings - anything that had a solid base to hold the wire really!! <div><br /></div><div>I was hoping to spend £1 or less per brooch and complete the make for £75, but haven't ended up anywhere near target: including the ones I didn't buy for myself (because everyone has been great at donating/buying brooches for me!) I think the overall cost will be somewhere between £150 - £200. As my mum pointed out though, the average fresh flower bridal bouquet costs about £150, and this way I get to keep all the brooches and have the amazing, unusual bouquet of my dreams!</div><div><br /></div><div>I'm definitely not disappointed about going over budget, and can't wait to get it finished and show you guys! </div><div><br /></div><div>Love, Tor xx </div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-8766547303368954422010-08-31T11:42:00.002+01:002010-08-31T11:45:54.622+01:00Potential ceremony reading?I know it's a little unusual, but everytime I read A Lovely Lovestory by Edward Monkton I think of me and Mike (he is the moody dinosaur and I am the shopaholic dinosaur!!) For the ceremony we are having one religious reading and two non-religious ones, and we're thinking of using this as one of the non-religious ones. To me it isn't the big white dress or the designer shoes or the bouquet of flowers that make you a bride: it's the tulle or lace flowing behind you, trailing from your hair. I can't imagine getting married without a veil, really.<br /><br />But you can't wear a veil all the night long, and after the ceremony and the formal photos I will take it off. I think I want to replace it with this hat from <a href="http://www.etsy.com/listing/47989484/alyss-mad-hatter-mini-topper">seamstress of avalon</a>:<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQTAR7XzRx_OA32dTXAoQ3vuSA_IcR4OCqDJy9DM9xnd5OqAsTySHGM6Ky9SAK4xW2l0Bx9B6Ns6AoIU25ou9meDRBYud3Y0Zpy5KZDqEQwhzkbfCCgvK4qCNa5ASc0FM402dRl0r-kCkq/s1600/hatterhat.jpg"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 268px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 400px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5507442693211723890" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQTAR7XzRx_OA32dTXAoQ3vuSA_IcR4OCqDJy9DM9xnd5OqAsTySHGM6Ky9SAK4xW2l0Bx9B6Ns6AoIU25ou9meDRBYud3Y0Zpy5KZDqEQwhzkbfCCgvK4qCNa5ASc0FM402dRl0r-kCkq/s400/hatterhat.jpg" /></a> Mike is wearing top hat and tails (his choice, suprisingly, rather than mine, and I think he will look perfectly dapper!) I was planning to make a 10/6 card to slip into the brim of his hat. Now i'm definitely going to make him one, and we will make quite the pair in our matching hats! Love it!<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-20610993591927573342010-08-18T12:04:00.003+01:002010-08-18T12:28:36.500+01:00Minimising the social impact of our weddingConfetti.co.uk have just gone into administration, and the Daily Mail has reported that brides across the nation are in dismay/panic/(insert your favourite daily fail word here) because of the money they will lose on their wedding stationary. I couldn't help but feel a tiny bit smug, because of course we have made all of our stationary ourselves. That got me thinking about our ethical attitude towards our whole wedding, and I thought it would be nice to share:<br /><br />There are some corporations that you cant avoid when it comes to planning a wedding; my bridesmaids dresses are from Debenhams, I want to wear make up from Chanel and Dior. Mike's suit will probably be hired from Moss Bros. And i'mnot going to pretend that's a problem for me: I love to shop, I love to consume, I love Debenhams! But the wedding industry is a big business, and there are lots of small companies taking part in it that are struggling to survive. I knew I didn't want to give money to the "big boys" of the billion pound wedding industry, so Mike and I made the decision that whereever possible we would only use small independent vendors, and if possible they would be Norwich based, to give something back to the community that means so much to us.<br /><br />Our venue only offers locally sourced Norfolk food: it won't have to travel far, keeping its carbon footprint minimal. We're using the little florists at the end of the street we used to live on. Our photographer is both independant, and Norfolk based (low carbon footprint there too!!) The stationary has been homemade, right down to the place cards. The stamps for the stationary were handmade by a woman on etsy. Also made by hand will be the favours, gifts for the hen night, most of the decorations, my bouquet (using vintage brooches sourced from carboot sales and second hand shops) even the gifts for our wedding party will be homemade: i'm making them myself from some organic cotton I bought from a local haberdasher. Our tables will be littered with vintage tea cups and saucers mum and nan have been collecting for us. Our cake will be made by an independant Norfolk baker. Last week we brought our wedding rings from a small jewellers in the centre of Norwich: are you sensing a pattern here!?<br /><br />We're doing everything we can to support independant and local businesses and to minimise the carbon footprint of our vendors. Do I feel smug about the low social impact of my wedding? A little bit. Then I think of all the driving to and from Norwich were doing, the travelling all our guests will have to do just so they can attend, and the big black carbon footprint our honeymoon will be leaving behind, and I realise i'm not doing anything at all. But at least we're trying!<br /><br />Love, Tor xxtor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-49502702333001550332010-08-15T09:50:00.003+01:002010-08-15T10:07:49.422+01:00DIY Make-upBecause of all the events I go to, i'm forever having my make up done, and I always hate the way it looks when someone else does it. So I will be doing my own make up for the wedding. But I won't be using my own everyday make up: because this is my wedding day I will be investing in some premium products for a flawless look. (Actually, lovely mum will be investing, as she's going to buy them for me for Christmas!) That means we get the fun of going to all the make up counters and trying all their yummy products before putting together the perfect package for the big day. Yesterday we tried Dior:<br /><a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=makeup1.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/makeup1.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=makeup2.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/makeup2.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket" /></a><br />I love how flawless my skin looks (their colour correction base is great) the long long lashes are gorgeous, and I know I want the old-school glamour of red lips (with matching red nails) But I think the eyes are just a little too much: too dramatic for the wedding when teamed with the red lips. However i'm viewing this as a good thing: I have now learnt I don't want the smokey eyes as well, and would rather go for a subtle slick of liner, and lashings and lashings of lengthening mascara. A bit more natural on the eye front next time!<br /><br />The face lasted all day, and even the lipstick survived the munching of pizza and soft drinks. I''ve definitely found a couple of products i'd like to get: next weekend we're trying Chanel (I have high hopes for their lipstick!)<div><br /></div><div>Love, Tor xx </div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-159204913791551578.post-74071447772040843482010-08-13T10:56:00.002+01:002010-08-13T11:18:46.268+01:00Dessert buffet table decorationsThe one thing that won't happen to anyone at our wedding is that they go home hungry. Mike and I are big foodies, and we knew that we wanted to make sure everyone was full and happy. When it boiled down to it, in the choice between free bar and plenty of food, we hated the idea of people being drunk and starving! People will be greeted with canapes and champagne, then sit down to a three course dinner. Then in the evening there will be a big BBQ, and everyone will take home big chunks of wedding cake. (My nan is buying us the cake as a wedding gift, and she likes everyone to be full too, so we'll have far more than we need!) But alongside the BBQ is the part of the food that i'm most excited about: the sweet and cupcake buffet!<br /><br />My sister will be making some of her famously delicious cupcakes (which she's designing to match the theme of the wedding and then putting on gorgeous cake stands) Then i'll be filling jars, sugar bowls, tea pots and anything else I can get my hands on, with old fashioned sweets. It's going to look visually amazing, and taste wonderful too. And it will look even more wonderful with the addition of these mad hatter-style stacks:<br /><div style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://s785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/?action=view&current=stacks.png" target="_blank"><img src="http://i785.photobucket.com/albums/yy131/fabfrocks/stacks.png" alt="Photobucket" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><div style="text-align: left;">Aren't these great!? Hand crafted by my very talented mum! They look so higgaldy piggaldy, just like a stack of crockery left over after a mad party. And they have buttons and brooches spilling out of them: i'm thinking of putting sweets on each of the plates too! The brown teapot in the stand at the back was the gift my godfather gave my parents on their wedding day. I think these will look amazing sat on either side of the dessert buffet table, but I think it's even more amazing that my mum made them for us, and they actually mean something: who knew this wedding would turn me into such a sentimental old goat?!<br /><br />Love, Tor xx<br /></div></div>tor (fabfrocks)http://www.blogger.com/profile/16174959372139162054noreply@blogger.com2
